What Anthropic Announced

Anthropic said on September 16 that it is consolidating parts of the Claude product experience into a single interface. The company is combining Claude chat and Cowork, while also integrating Claude Design, described as its visual-work tool, into the main Claude experience. The stated objective is to reduce the need for users to choose a separate tool before they begin a task.

Instead of requiring a person to identify the correct Claude mode in advance, Anthropic said Claude will automatically determine and deploy the capabilities required for the work. That is the central product change. The company is positioning the interface as a place where a user can begin with the task itself, rather than with a decision about which product surface should handle it.

At the same time, Anthropic is introducing Claude Docs and Claude Slides in beta. These additions are intended to let users create documents, presentations, and visual designs within a single conversation. The practical significance is not simply that Claude can generate prose. Anthropic is connecting conversational work to file formats that remain central to routine business communication and review processes.

Claude Docs supports the creation of documents that can be exported to Google Docs or Microsoft Word. Claude Slides supports the creation of presentations that can be exported to PowerPoint or PDF. Reuters reported that the broader experience is designed so users no longer need to switch among separate tools, with Claude selecting the capabilities needed for a request.

The rollout begins with Claude Pro and Max subscription plans across web, desktop, and mobile over the coming weeks. Anthropic said Team and Free plans will receive access later. The verified announcement does not provide an exact calendar for those later releases, a country-level availability list, or confirmation that each capability will arrive on every platform at precisely the same time.
